The Spiti Winter Expedition follows an 11-day, 10-night route: Chandigarh → Sarahan → Rakchham (via Sangla Valley) → a Chitkul day trip → Tabo (via the Gue mummy) → Kaza → Spiti's high villages (Langza, Hikkim, Komic) → Key Monastery and Chicham Bridge → Kalpa → Narkanda → back to Chandigarh. This is our longest and most complete Spiti circuit, covering both the Kinnaur approach and the deep-Spiti high villages in one trip, rather than the more compact version on our Half Circuit fixed departures. Because it runs in winter, the itinerary is paced with extra buffer days for altitude acclimatization and unpredictable snow-affected road conditions between Tabo and Kaza. A minimum of 4 travelers is required to run this specific batch, and it departs from Chandigarh rather than Shimla or Delhi.

The 11-day Snowscape Adventure starts from ₹49,000 per person, with a minimum of 4 travelers required to run the batch; below that threshold, the departure doesn't operate as scheduled. This is a higher price point than our shorter fixed departures (Half Circuit from ₹12,999, Spiti with Chandrataal from ₹17,999) because it covers more than double the days, reaches further into deep-Spiti high villages that shorter circuits skip, and includes 4x4 transport suited to winter road conditions rather than standard vehicles. The price includes stays at our own hotels, all meals, and oxygen and medical support throughout the high-altitude stretch of the route. Given the minimum-group requirement, it's worth confirming current bookings for your preferred dates before finalizing other travel arrangements around this trip.

We do. We stay in hotels we own and operate directly, including Hotel White Nest in Kalpa (9,500 ft, with Kinner Kailash views) and The Royal Voyages in Spiti Valley, rather than booking through third-party hotel partners for these stretches of the route. This matters for two reasons: there's no middleman markup built into the room rate, and we control the actual standard of the stay rather than relying on a partner property's own management. Where the itinerary passes through areas we don't operate hotels in ourselves, we use vetted partner properties instead, the same names listed on our Hotels page, including Hotel Sarahan Inn and The Delek House in Kaza. This own-hotel model is specific to our Kalpa and Spiti Valley stretch; other regions on longer circuits may use partner accommodation instead.

The Spiti Winter Expedition price includes stays at our own hotels along the route, 4x4 transport suited to winter mountain roads, all meals throughout the 11-day itinerary, and oxygen and medical support for the high-altitude stretches around Kaza and the high villages. This is a more complete inclusion set than our shorter fixed departures, reflecting both the longer duration and the added winter-specific logistics: 4x4 vehicles instead of standard transport, and oxygen support built in as standard rather than just carried as a precaution. A minimum of 4 travelers is required for the batch to run, which also affects per-person transport costs versus larger group departures. Personal expenses and any activities outside the fixed itinerary follow the same exclusions pattern as our other Spiti routes.

For a frozen, snow-covered landscape (frozen waterfalls, high-altitude villages blanketed in snow, dramatically quieter roads than summer) winter is genuinely the best time to see this side of Spiti Valley. Our Winter Expedition runs the classic Key Monastery, Chicham Bridge, and Gue Mummy route specifically in this season, when the scenery looks fundamentally different from the green-valley summer version most photos of Spiti show. That said, "best" depends on what you're after: summer and early autumn (June-October) are better if you want Chandratal Lake included, since Kunzum Pass closes with snow and isn't accessible on winter batches at all. Winter also means colder overnight temperatures well below freezing in Kaza and Kalpa, so it suits travelers prepared for genuine high-altitude winter conditions over those wanting a milder trip.
