Before You Book
Yes, a full night of camping beside Chandratal Lake is the centerpiece of this 6 nights / 7 days circuit, reached via Kunzum Pass after Kaza. Chandratal, meaning "Moon Lake" for its crescent shape, sits at over 4,300 meters and is only accessible once Kunzum Pass opens for the season, which is why this route runs June through October and not in winter. Camping here means no hotel that night. Tented accommodation is provided as part of the package, and it's typically the highlight most travelers mention afterward. The rest of the circuit follows our standard Spiti stops: Sarahan, Sangla, Kalpa, Tabo, Kaza, before and after the Chandratal leg, so you get both the classic monastery and temple route and the lake in one trip, unlike the Half Circuit, which skips Chandratal entirely.
