Chandratal, meaning "Moon Lake" for its crescent shape, sits at over 4,300 meters and is only accessible once Kunzum Pass opens for the season, which is why this route runs June through October and not in winter. Camping here means no hotel that night. Tented accommodation is provided as part of the package, and it's typically the highlight most travelers mention afterward. The rest of the circuit follows our standard Spiti stops: Sarahan, Sangla, Kalpa, Tabo, Kaza, before and after the Chandratal leg, so you get both the classic monastery and temple route and the lake in one trip, unlike the Half Circuit, which skips Chandratal entirely.

After the standard 5% GST at checkout, that's ₹18,899 (Triple) and ₹20,999 (Double). This sits above the Half Circuit (₹12,999) since it covers two extra days and the dedicated Chandratal camping leg, but below the Biking Expedition's Solo Rider tier, which includes a personal motorcycle and support vehicle. The price includes breakfast and dinner daily, a driver-cum-guide, First Aid kit and oxygen cylinder, Inner Line and Manali Green Tribunal permits (needed since this route exits via Manali), and stays at our own hotels along the way except for the Chandratal camping night, which uses tented accommodation instead. 21 batches run June through October, the widest spread of any of our fixed departures.

21 fixed batches run from June through October, the most of any route we offer, reflecting how long Kunzum Pass typically stays open for the Chandratal leg. Several June and early-July batches see the highest demand, since that's peak monsoon-break and early-summer travel season in the plains, and a number of those dates are already full or filling fast. August through October batches generally have more availability, and also mean drier trails around Chandratal itself since the worst of the monsoon has passed. If your preferred June or July date is full, message us on WhatsApp to check the waitlist, or consider a September or October batch instead. The lake and surrounding peaks look just as striking in autumn light, with thinner crowds at the campsite.

What's the route for Spiti with Chandrataal?

The route runs Shimla → Sarahan → Sangla → Kalpa → Tabo → Kaza → Chandratal → Manali → Delhi over 6 nights and 7 days. It covers Sarahan's Bhimakali Temple, the Sangla Valley, Kalpa's Kinner Kailash views, Tabo's centuries-old monastery, and Kaza's high-village access, before the Kunzum Pass crossing into the Chandratal camping leg, then exits over Rohtang towards Manali rather than backtracking the way it arrived. That's what separates it from the Half Circuit, which returns the same way it came. The Manali exit also means Manali Green Tribunal permits are required for this route specifically, alongside the standard Inner Line permits needed for the Kinnaur-Spiti stretch. This same westbound Manali exit is shared with the Biking Expedition, but not the Half Circuit or NY Special, both of which loop back via Kalpa and Narkanda instead.

Pick the next open date from the 21 batches running June through October, or message us on WhatsApp. Batches close once seats run out and can't be reopened. Because Chandratal access depends on Kunzum Pass staying clear, batch availability can also shift slightly based on road conditions in a given year, so a date that looks open today should still be confirmed with our team before you finalize travel plans. For most travelers, an open batch is available within 1-2 weeks of any preferred date somewhere across the June-October season.

The price includes breakfast and dinner daily, an experienced driver-cum-guide, a First Aid kit and oxygen cylinder for altitude safety, both Inner Line and Manali Green Tribunal permits (this route requires both, unlike routes that don't exit via Manali), and accommodation at our own hotels for every night except the Chandratal camping leg, which uses tented stays instead. Not included: lunch during travel days, personal expenses, any meals or drinks beyond what's listed, and optional activities outside the itinerary. Because this is a June-October route, winter-specific costs like hotel heater charges don't apply. Those only come up on the Winter Expedition and NY Special batches running October through January. The camping equipment and setup at Chandratal itself is fully provided and doesn't require travelers to bring their own gear.
