The NY Special is a single batch rather than one of several, 25 December to 2 January, meaning there's no alternative date if those specific days don't work; you'd need to book a regular Winter Expedition batch instead. Because it's the one departure guaranteed to be in Kalpa for the New Year, it tends to be the most requested winter batch of the year, and books out earlier than regular winter dates.

If 25 December to 2 January doesn't fit your schedule, the regular Winter Spiti Expedition covers the same core Kinnaur-Spiti winter route across 11 more flexible batches between October and December, just without the fixed New Year's Eve party. Given there's only one batch each year, travelers wanting this specific trip should book well before December to secure a seat.

This sits above the regular Winter Expedition (₹17,999/₹19,999) since it includes the 31 December bonfire and celebration at Kalpa on top of the standard winter-route inclusions: breakfast and dinner daily, driver-cum-guide, First Aid kit and oxygen cylinder, Inner Line permits, and stays at our own hotels along the Sarahan-Sangla-Kalpa-Kaza route. As with all winter batches, hotel heater charges are billed separately if used. Given it's a single once-a-year batch rather than one of several rolling dates, the price reflects both the added celebration and the fixed, non-negotiable travel window.

Seats on the NY Special are limited, and fill faster than our regular winter batches for a simple reason: it's a single once-a-year departure rather than one of 11 rolling Winter Expedition dates, so anyone wanting to be in Kalpa for New Year's Eve has exactly one batch to book into. Demand also tends to spike from late November onward as the New Year approaches, which is when this batch typically sells out. Because of that, we'd recommend booking well ahead of December rather than waiting. Unlike a regular winter batch, if this one fills there's no equivalent alternative date the same year. If the batch is already showing Full by the time you inquire, message us on WhatsApp to join the waitlist in case of a cancellation.

The one added cost specific to winter batches, including this one, is hotel heater charges if used, billed separately and paid directly to the hotel. Since the itinerary is timed around reaching Kalpa on 31 December specifically, the day-by-day route follows a fixed schedule rather than the more flexible pacing possible on regular winter batches, a trade-off most travelers accept for the guaranteed New Year timing.
